Riopele implements flexibility in working hours

back to news

Riopele, a textile company whose vision is ‘to be an innovative and sustainable company leading the path to the future, based on the transparent and responsible management of resources, respect for human rights, and the promotion of technological development’, has just implemented a flexible working hours programme and granted two additional days off (Bonus Day) to its employees in the production areas.

With the implementation of the flexible working hours programme and the allocation of two additional days off per year, Riopele renews its commitment to fostering a more dynamic work environment that adapts to the needs of its employees, enhancing the balance between personal and professional life.

Starting in September, Riopele employees whose position allows for flexible working hours without affecting the normal operation of the company will have the freedom to choose their work schedule according to their preference. Meanwhile, the allocation of two additional days off per year is designated for workers who cannot access this flexible scheme, as long as they fulfill their duties of attendance and punctuality.

By implementing these measures, the company aims not only to increase employee satisfaction and well-being but also to enhance productivity and efficiency in the workplace. ‘We are introducing the flexible working hours programme, believing that this initiative will not only benefit our employees but also strengthen Riopele's position as an innovative and forward-thinking company in the textile sector in Portugal’, says Riopele's President José Alexandre Oliveira.

In addition to providing employees with greater autonomy in choosing their work hours, the implementation of flexible working hours reinforces Riopele’s commitment to building an inclusive and future-oriented work environment. This initiative demonstrates the company's ability to adapt to market changes and the evolving needs of its employees.

This flexible working hours programme will evolve into a hybrid work model (combining in-office and remote work) for positions in eligible functional groups, with approval starting in October.

Founded in 1927 and headquartered in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Riopele is one of Portugal's oldest textile companies, providing over 1,100 jobs.
