On the afternoon of 28 April 2017, the closing meeting of the “2nd APCER Quality Management, Environmental Management and Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems Monitoring/Certification Audit” was held in the R&D department.

Bernardino Carneiro - one of Riopele’s Administrator, who is also responsible for managing these systems - and Brandão Guerreiro - coordinating auditor at APCER - Portuguese Association of Certification - were the speakers chosen for this session, attended by directors, managers and all those responsible for the processes audited in the different Riopele departments.

The purpose of the 2nd monitoring audit, held on 26, 27 and 28 April, was to check whether Riopele continues to comply with the requirements established in the reference standards.

Bernardino Carneiro opened the session by highlighting the significance of the fact that the meeting was being held in a quintessentially innovative space, at a moment when the company is celebrating its 90th anniversary.

He then thanked the audit team for its suggestions and inputs, emphasizing that it is very important for the company to receive feedback from independent teams, which encourage the company to grow and evolve, as well as to rely on the engagement of its internal teams, saying that the company should be permanently and continuously focused on improving its processes.

After the opening message, Brandão Carneiro began his speech by commending Riopele’s organization, highlighting the importance of the participation of the company’s Senior Management in the audit.

He went on to say that Riopele’s management system is efficient when it comes to fulfilling predefined goals, as well as legal, statutory and regulatory requirements, highlighting positive aspects such as the high-quality standards in customer service, the effort to improve working conditions and the projects in the fields of product innovation and sustainability

Although there are no aspects with negative implications for the existing system, there were suggestions of opportunities for improvement that will be analysed and implemented, where necessary, by the various departments.

At the end of the meeting, Bernardino Carneiro, on behalf of José Alexandre Oliveira, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Riopele, away on a trade mission, thanked all those present for their work while recalling that the company’s goal is to improve its results and increase its competitiveness, asking them to share the audit’s findings with their teams.
