The closing session of the “Renewal Audit for Certification of the QES Integrated Management System, with transition in the areas of Quality (ISO 9001) and Environment (14001), performed by APCER”, was held on March 26, in the R&D hub.
The renewal audit was aimed at assessing compliance with all the requirements established by the reference standard, in order to confirm the effectiveness of the management system as a whole and its extensibility to the areas of Quality, Environment, and Occupational Health and Safety.
In addition, to complete a three-year cycle, and taking advantage of the renewal audit, Riopele decided to make the transition to the reference standards ISO 9001 and 14001:2015.
The closing session was attended by the Board of Directors and by the persons responsible for the processes audited in the different areas of the company, as well as by the APCER coordinator, Luís Pimenta and the auditors Paula Galhardo and Rodrigues Viana.
The opening speech was delivered by Bernardino Carneiro, director at Riopele, who thanked the commitment and effort of all the teams involved, underlining the level of expertise and demand of the audit that was performed.
Then, Luís Pimenta, APCER coordinator, thanked, on behalf of the entity, the friendliness and warmth with which they were received, highlighting the engagement, expertise and active participation of all the employees.
On the one hand, he underlined, as strengths of the organization and its management system, the growth in turnover, the company’s verticality and the R&D projects carried out in partnership with Universities and Technology Centres; on the other hand, he also highlighted the strong investment in environmentally responsible equipment, the investment in the development of employee skills with the Horizontes Programme, and the promotion of the exercise of corporate social responsibility.
He then mentioned that no situations with a negative impact had been identified and that there was a clear commitment to ensure the effectiveness and enhancement of the QES Integrated Management System across all levels of the organization.
Since the objectives of the audit had been met, Luís Pimenta considered that Riopele fulfilled the conditions for a transition in accordance with Quality standard NP EN ISO 9001:2015 and Environment standard NP EN ISO 14001:2015, as well as for the renewal of its certification in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety standards OHSAS 18001:2007 and NP 4397.
Then, Bernardino Carneiro, on behalf of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Riopele, thanked APCER for the recognition, while distinguishing the merit of the work carried out by the teams involved.
Finally, he recalled the importance of a continuous organizational process simplification, which eventually improves the performance of the management system while increasing competitiveness and value creation.
