Episode 14 | Stories Worth Telling… with Joaquim Abreu

back to news

In Episode 14, we spoke with Joaquim Abreu, Riopele’s Gatekeeper for the past 17 years.

1. You are the first person people see when they arrive at Riopele. Do you consider yourself an ambassador for the company?

Absolutely. It is very easy to be an ambassador for a great company like Riopele, a true benchmark in the textile industry. I take on that role with great pride.

2. What changes have you noticed at Riopele over the years?

First and foremost, the people. There is a lot of fresh talent joining the company.

Then there are the changes everyone can see: the constant renovations and improvements across the factory, as well as the continuous investment in machinery and technology. Riopele is also a company that recruits throughout the year, so it is constantly evolving.

3. How would you describe the people who work here?

I have met many good people at Riopele, and I can honestly say that I rarely see anyone coming to work unhappy.

I remember that in the early 2000s, it was quite common to find three generations of the same family working here: grandparents, parents and grandchildren starting their professional journey. It was something very special and reflected the strong connection people had with the company.

4. If you could leave a message to everyone who walks through Riopele’s doors, what would it be?

“Be aware, I’m watching you.” (laughs)

Jokes aside, I always try to wish people a good day or welcome those who are just starting at Riopele. I like to greet people by name and welcome them with a smile.
